Ranchi Cold Wave Relief: IMD Predicts Temperature Rise from Tuesday
Ranchi Cold Wave to Ease as Temperatures Set to Rise

Residents across Jharkhand, including those in the capital city Ranchi, can finally look forward to some relief from the biting cold wave conditions that have gripped the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the harsh weather will begin to ease starting Tuesday.

Weather Department's Forecast and Alert Status

The weather office had earlier predicted persistent cold wave conditions across seven districts of Jharkhand - Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla and Simdega. These areas were under a yellow (watch) alert for cold wave conditions expected to continue until Tuesday morning.

According to weather records from the past 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Monday, dry weather prevailed across the state while isolated places in western and central parts experienced cold wave conditions. The temperature variations were significant, with Chaibasa recording the highest maximum temperature of 29.8°C while Gumla registered the lowest minimum temperature of 6.6°C. Ranchi itself experienced temperatures ranging from a minimum of 10.2°C to a maximum of 23.8°C.

Scientific Explanation Behind Temperature Change

Abhishek Anand, weather scientist and head of IMD Ranchi, provided detailed insights into the expected weather transformation. "From Tuesday morning onwards, the minimum temperature is expected to rise over the next few days," Anand confirmed, bringing welcome news to residents tired of the intense cold.

The meteorologist explained the scientific reasoning behind this shift: "The rise in minimum temperature will happen because the northwesterly winds are weakening, which means there will be no more chilly winds. Meanwhile, easterly winds carrying some moisture will begin to flow into the region."

This change in wind patterns is expected to result in a temperature increase of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days. Anand also mentioned that eastern areas of the state might witness some cloud formation as part of this weather transition.

Precautionary Advice from Weather Experts

Despite the anticipated relief from extreme cold conditions, IMD scientist Abhishek Anand issued a word of caution to residents. He emphasized that while temperatures are expected to rise, people should not become too casual about the weather conditions just yet.

"People should not put away their woollens yet," Anand warned, suggesting that while the situation is improving, the cold hasn't completely departed. His advice indicates that residents should maintain some level of preparedness for cooler conditions even as the overall weather pattern shows improvement.

The gradual temperature rise expected over the coming days will likely make daytime activities more comfortable while still requiring appropriate clothing, especially during early mornings and late evenings when temperatures typically drop.
