A tiger has taken shelter near a banana plantation in Chennamallipura village, located in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district, creating significant panic among local farmers and residents. Bandipur Tiger Reserve director S Prabhakaran confirmed to TOI that the tiger was discovered resting near the village during a routine area scan using drone cameras. Foresters are closely monitoring its movements and have issued alerts to villagers to ensure safety. According to local farmers, the forest department has deployed a thermal drone to track the tiger's activity, successfully capturing images of the animal.
Recent Capture and Upcoming Rescue Operation
This incident follows the capture of a two-year-old male tiger in the same area just three days ago, which has since been relocated to a rehabilitation centre in Mysuru. The forest department is now preparing for a rescue operation to address the current situation. Officials have stated that the operation will commence once tamed elephants arrive to assist in the process, ensuring a safe and controlled approach.
