UNICEF Official Urges Youth to Act on Climate Change in Bhopal

Bhopal: William Hanlon, UNICEF Chief of Field Office for Madhya Pradesh, delivered a powerful keynote at the Youth for Climate Action event here on Wednesday, emphasizing that climate change is no longer a distant threat but a daily reality. He urged collective accountability and immediate action to protect the shared future.

Youth for Climate Action Event

The dialogue was organized by the Environmental Planning & Coordination Organisation (EPCO) in collaboration with UNICEF, ahead of World Environment Day. It brought together students from Dhar, Dewas, Indore, Betul, representatives from Bharat Scouts and Guides, and climate advocates under the theme Inspired by Nature, for Climate, for Future.

Key Discussions

Sessions highlighted rising temperatures, water stress, and the importance of nature-based solutions. EPCO’s Lokendra Thakkar stressed collective responsibility in addressing environmental challenges. Meanwhile, UNICEF’s Anil Gulati urged the youth to say no to plastic and save water.
