Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' spearheaded a mega plantation drive at Smriti Vatika in Dadri, Naini, a site developed by the municipal corporation. Planting a sapling under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, he urged citizens not only to plant trees but also to ensure their long-term care and protection. The minister emphasized that tree planting must be accompanied by sustained maintenance to maximize environmental benefits.

Railway Electrification Organization Takes Climate Pledge

The Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) marked the day with a special environmental awareness program. Officials took the 'Now for Climate' pledge, committing to immediate action for environmental protection. Principal Chief Engineer J.C. Chaurasia planted a sapling at the CORE headquarters and called upon employees to actively contribute to increasing green cover amid rising temperatures. The organization plans to expand its green initiatives in the coming months.

University of Allahabad Hosts Awareness Program

At the University of Allahabad, the Centre for Environmental Studies organized a plantation drive and awareness program under the theme 'Inspired by Nature, for the Climate, for Our Future.' Guided by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sangita Srivastava, the program focused on promoting environmental responsibility among students and faculty members. Registrar Prof. Ashish Khare planted a sapling at Meghnad Saha Garden on the Senate Campus, while a similar drive was held at the Department of Geography. The university plans to integrate environmental education into its curriculum.

Children Engage in Creative Environmental Activities

Adding a creative dimension to the celebrations, Bal Bhawan organized a series of environmental activities for children to spread awareness about nature conservation, sustainable living, and the importance of protecting the environment from an early age. Activities included poster-making, tree planting, and interactive sessions on waste management and water conservation. The event aimed to inspire the younger generation to become stewards of the environment.
