3 Women Injured in Bus-Tempo Traveller Collision Near Dera Bassi

Three women were seriously injured when a Haryana Roadways bus collided head-on with a tempo traveller carrying pilgrims near the Bhushan Factory cut on the Ambala-Chandigarh national highway near Dera Bassi on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred around 8:30 am when the tempo traveller, which was transporting pilgrims, was attempting a U-turn near the Bhushan Factory cut. A speeding Haryana Roadways bus traveling from Ambala rammed into the vehicle. The impact was so severe that the tempo traveller was extensively damaged and overturned on the road. The crash caused chaos, and passersby rushed to help after hearing the cries of the passengers.

According to locals, the location has a history of numerous accidents. The highway crossing frequently witnesses collisions between speeding vehicles and those making U-turns. Despite the recurring incidents, no permanent safety measures have been implemented at the site.

The Dera Bassi traffic police and local police arrived at the scene. Police personnel, along with passersby, rescued the passengers trapped in the damaged vehicle and transported them to a hospital via ambulance. The police have seized both vehicles and launched an investigation into the incident.

Several passengers sustained injuries, with three women suffering serious injuries and being hospitalized. The condition of the injured is reported to be stable.
