Four Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were injured in an accidental landmine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
Details of the Incident
The explosion occurred when a landmine was accidentally activated during an area domination patrol by Army personnel in the forward Kalal area of the Nowshera sector, according to officials.
The injured soldiers include a JCO and three others. They were immediately evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment.
Background
As part of anti-infiltration measures, forward areas along the LoC are heavily mined. Officials noted that landmines sometimes get displaced by heavy rains, leading to such accidental explosions.
The incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by security forces in the region while conducting patrols to prevent infiltration.
