Amritsar: The Amritsar rural police have arrested four persons in connection with two extortion-related cases reported from Sudhar village under Ramdas police station. The arrested were allegedly working at the behest of foreign-based gangster Jeevan Fauji.
Arrests and Identification
Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar rural) Suhail Qasim Mir said the arrested accused had been identified as Kulwinder Singh alias Bhullar, Akashdeep Singh alias Sunny alias Kauda, Akashdeep Singh alias Baba, and Jagtar Singh.
Confession and Foreign Links
During preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly confessed to being in direct contact with gangster Jeevan Fauji, who is believed to be operating from Germany, along with his associate Preet. The police said the duo were allegedly issuing extortion threats from abroad and directing criminal activities in Punjab.
Details of the Cases
The arrests were made during the investigation into two separate FIRs registered at Ramdas police station.
First Case: Rs 30 Lakh Demand and Firing
In the first case, Jasbir Singh of Sudhar village had reported receiving an extortion call from a foreign number allegedly linked to gangster Jeevan Fauji, demanding Rs 30 lakh. A few days later, unidentified persons allegedly opened fire at his house late at night on May 6, 2026.
Second Case: Rs 50 Lakh Demand and Petrol Bomb
In another case, Nishan Singh, sarpanch of Sudhar village, had also reported receiving an extortion call from the same gangster demanding Rs 50 lakh. Subsequently, unidentified persons had allegedly hurled a petrol bomb at his residence, damaging property and creating panic in the area on May 9, 2026.
Investigation and Further Actions
The police said both complainants had received threat calls from foreign phone numbers. Following detailed investigations in both FIRs, the police traced and arrested all four accused involved.
The SSP said further investigations were underway to identify other persons linked to the network.
