Ranchi: Three armed criminals clashed with workers and fired in the air at a bridge construction site in Gudgudchuwa village of Khunti district on Sunday evening, police said. No one was injured in the incident.
Sources said that the assailants arrived at the spot on a motorcycle and fired several rounds. Police have recovered two empty cartridges from the scene. The criminals also snatched mobile phones from the workers, but in the face of joint resistance by the latter, they fled, leaving behind their bike.
Khunti Superintendent of Police Rishabha Garg stated, "The criminals clashed with the workers at the site. Police are trying to gather clues about them. The involvement of the extremist organization People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) cannot be ruled out."
It is noteworthy that the bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs 4 crore, connecting Sundari Pakar toli to Gudgudchua. Police are investigating the incident and searching for the suspects.
