NEW DELHI: Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi issued a stern warning to Pakistan on Saturday, stating that if it continues to harbor terrorists and operate against India, it will have to decide whether it wants to be part of geography or history.
Strong Message at Sena Samwad
Speaking during an interactive session hosted by Uniform Unveiled at the Manekshaw Centre, General Dwivedi was asked how the Indian Army would respond if circumstances similar to those that led to Operation Sindoor emerge again. He responded firmly, emphasizing that Pakistan must make a choice between being part of geography or history if it persists in its hostile actions.
General Dwivedi made these remarks at the event titled 'Sena Samwad', held days after the nation and the Indian military marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor. During that operation, the armed forces conducted precision strikes on multiple terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Context of Operation Sindoor
Pakistan later launched offensives against India, and all subsequent counter-offensives by India were also carried out under Operation Sindoor. The military conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors lasted nearly 88 hours, halting after they reached an understanding on the evening of May 10.
General Dwivedi's warning underscores India's stance on cross-border terrorism and its readiness to defend its sovereignty. The Army Chief's statement reflects the military's preparedness to respond decisively to any threat from Pakistan.
