In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) and JB Nagar police in Bengaluru have arrested two interstate peddlers and seized a substantial quantity of narcotics. The operations also triggered a manhunt for international traffickers believed to be involved in smuggling contraband into the city.
First Operation: CCB Raid at International Post Office
On May 21, officials from the CCB's Narcotics Control Unit received intelligence from Customs authorities regarding suspicious parcels that had arrived at the International Post Office. Acting swiftly, the team conducted a raid and intercepted three parcels containing approximately 3 kilograms of hydro ganja, a potent form of cannabis. The narcotics had been smuggled from abroad, indicating an international trafficking network operating in the city.
Second Operation: JB Nagar Police Strike
The following day, on May 22, the JB Nagar police carried out a targeted operation on Tunnel Road. They intercepted a Kerala-registered car and seized a consignment of MDMA (ecstasy) and ganja. Two peddlers were arrested on the spot, and authorities are investigating their links to larger drug syndicates.
Hunt for International Traffickers
Both operations have led to a broader investigation targeting international traffickers who are smuggling narcotics into Bengaluru. The CCB is working closely with Customs and other agencies to dismantle these networks and prevent further inflow of drugs.
