Trichy: A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday evening near Subramaniapuram in Trichy city, where a 59-year-old man riding a bicycle was killed after being struck by a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as K Murugesan, a resident of Muthaliyar Chathiram in Palakkarai. He was returning home along the Trichy-Pudukottai highway when the incident took place.
Details of the Accident
As Murugesan approached Subramaniapuram, he attempted to cross the highway through a median opening. At that moment, a speeding government bus heading towards Pudukottai collided with his bicycle. The impact caused severe head injuries to Murugesan.
Bystanders immediately rushed him to MGMGH Trichy, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The TNSTC bus has been secured by the police for further investigation.
Police Investigation
The traffic south investigation wing police have registered a case and are conducting an inquiry into the circumstances leading to the accident. Authorities are examining factors such as the bus speed, visibility conditions, and the victim's attempt to cross the highway.
