A bomb threat targeting a local court and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Rohru, Shimla, triggered panic on Wednesday after a handwritten poster was found pasted on a wall, police said.
Discovery of the Threat
According to officials, the poster was discovered in the Bharari area and warned that the Rohru court and SDM office would be blown up. The threat prompted authorities to go on high alert and initiate precautionary measures.
Immediate Response
Both premises were immediately evacuated, and a search operation was launched. A Bomb Disposal Squad was also rushed from Shimla to assist in the operation. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla, Gaurav Singh, confirmed that a thorough search of the area is underway.
"So far, no suspicious objects have been found, and the situation is under control. A case has been registered at the Sadar police station in Shimla, and further investigation is ongoing," he said. He also urged the public not to panic, maintain calm, and refrain from spreading or believing rumours.
Second Incident This Week
This is the second such incident in Shimla this week. On Monday, an email warning of bomb blasts in schools was received, which later turned out to be a hoax after no suspicious items were found. Authorities continue to remain vigilant following the recent threats.
