Cloudburst in J&K's Reasi Damages Houses, No Casualties

A cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district triggered flashfloods that damaged at least half a dozen houses and blocked roads due to mudslides on Thursday. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, which occurred in Gulabgarh's Bathoi village. This marks the fifth cloudburst in the Jammu region in the past three days.

Official Response

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha posted on X: 'Spoke with the DC Reasi to assess the situation, following an incident of cloudburst at village Bathoi. While several houses suffered damage, fortunately, no casualties have been reported. I have directed the DC to immediately provide assistance and relief to the affected families.'

Impact on Pilgrimages

On Friday, adverse weather conditions in Kishtwar district forced the administration to suspend pilgrimages to Shri Machail Mata and Shri Mindhal Mata. The decision was taken to ensure the safety of pilgrims amid ongoing heavy rains and unstable weather patterns.
