The complaint was lodged following allegations by organiser Satadru Dutta that unauthorised individuals were allowed onto the pitch, forcing Messi to leave Salt Lake Stadium within minutes. Thousands of fans who purchased expensive tickets were left disappointed.

West Bengal Sports Minister Nisith Pramanik stated that the government has ordered a fresh probe and directed organisers to refund fans who attended the Messi GOAT Tour event. The move marks a significant shift in handling the incident, which had previously been a source of public outrage.
