Hisar: Aimed at making Haryana a drug-free state, the government on Thursday launched a 15-day statewide anti-drug awareness campaign from Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa. Inaugurated by ADGP Sanjay Kumar, the campaign will cover multiple districts before culminating in Faridabad on June 26, coinciding with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Addressing the gathering, ADGP Sanjay Kumar said the fight against drug abuse is a collective responsibility and cannot be left to the police and administration alone. He urged citizens, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and focus on education, sports, innovation and other productive activities.
Under the ‘Nasha Mukt Haryana Awareness Fortnight', Haryana Police will conduct awareness programmes across several districts to educate people about the harmful effects of drug addiction. Kumar said the campaign will also encourage public participation in identifying and reporting drug traffickers.
He added that Haryana Police is actively working to break drug supply networks operating through neighbouring states and international channels. Highlighting improvements in law and order, the ADGP said crime rates have declined in recent years, while police response times have improved significantly.
