Panchkula: Over 3,200 Treated in Anti-Drug Drive

The Panchkula police have made significant strides in their ongoing anti-drug campaign, covering 551 locations across the district and engaging with 34,315 individuals as part of the 'Drug-Free and Violence-Free - My Village, My Pride' initiative, officials reported.

Campaign Launch and Progress

Launched on December 2, 2024, the drive aims to steer youth away from substance abuse and violence. During this period, authorities identified 3,535 individuals affected by drug abuse. Of these, 3,258 people were admitted to various treatment facilities. Additionally, 190 individuals with severe addiction were placed in a de-addiction centre with support from the Civil Hospital, Sector 6.

Role of Student Vandit Agrawal

The police commended the contributions of Class 12 student Vandit Agrawal, who has been actively visiting educational institutions and de-addiction centres to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drugs. He recently accompanied a police team to Allen Coaching Institute in Sector 14, Panchkula, to interact with students.

Police Engagement with Youth

During the visit, Inspector Rajesh Kumari and ASI Shivani, who have been closely involved with the campaign, sensitized students about the dangers of drug abuse and encouraged them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. They emphasized that an aware and empowered youth is essential for building a better Haryana and a stronger India.
