Bhavishya Sharma, a 23-year-old from Haryana, made a heartbreaking video call to his mother from a smoke-filled room in Lucknow just before he died in a fire that claimed 15 lives. He told her, 'There is a fire in the room. Smoke is everywhere. We may not survive.' The call lasted only seconds before disconnecting, leaving his family in panic.
Victim had just started his dream job
Bhavishya, a resident of Mahipur village in Sonepat district, had moved to Lucknow on June 6 to join an animation and gaming institute. He had been at his new job for only eight days when the fire broke out on Monday in a three-storey commercial building in Aliganj. The building housed a graphics animation centre, a pet shop, and a library.
His father, Narendra Sharma, a private school teacher, said, 'My son was my only asset. I have nothing left now.' Bhavishya's mother works as a tailor. The family also includes his younger sister, Trisha, a graduate, whom Bhavishya hoped to support.
Family seeks government action and employment
After the fire, relatives rushed to Lucknow. Bhavishya's body was brought back to his village after postmortem formalities, and cremation took place on Tuesday. His father urged the government to prevent such tragedies, saying, 'No parent should have to lose a child in such an incident.' The family has requested employment assistance for Trisha to cope with the loss.
Haryana Cooperation Minister Arvind Sharma expressed grief on X, stating, 'It is saddening to learn about the death of talented 23-year-old Bhavishya Sharma from Mahipur village of Gohana constituency in the fire incident in Lucknow. The young man had joined an animation and gaming institute just eight days ago. We stand with the family in this difficult time.'
Village mourns the loss of a promising young man
The tragedy has cast a shadow over Mahipur village, where residents joined the grieving family. Bhavishya had big dreams and aspirations, but his father said, 'All those dreams have now been reduced to ashes.' The family had hoped Bhavishya would ease their financial burden and contribute to his sister's education and marriage.
