India has condemned the attack on the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman, which left one Indian national missing and ten others rescued, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Sunday.
Attack Details and Response
The MEA stated that of the 11 Indian nationals on board the ship, ten have been rescued so far, while one Indian national is reportedly missing. India's embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities in the ongoing search and rescue operation.
Iran earlier said it had fired a warning shot that struck the vessel, which was traveling on an unapproved route. The incident occurred on Sunday, prompting immediate diplomatic and consular action from India.
Diplomatic and Consular Coordination
The Indian embassy in Oman remains in constant touch with Omani officials to ensure all possible efforts are made to locate the missing crew member. The MEA reiterated its condemnation of the attack and pledged full support to the affected families.
The attack on the commercial vessel highlights ongoing maritime security concerns in the region. India has called for the safety of all seafarers and adherence to international maritime laws.
