Indian Worker Dies in Ukraine Drone Strike Near Moscow

NEW DELHI: An Indian worker lost his life and three others were injured in a massive drone strike by Ukraine in the Moscow region on Sunday, the Indian embassy confirmed. In a post on X, the embassy stated, 'One Indian worker has lost his life and three others have been injured in a drone attack in Moscow region earlier today. Embassy officials have visited the location and met the injured workers in the hospital. The Embassy condoles the loss of life and is working with the company management and local authorities to provide necessary assistance to the workers.'

Zelenskyy Defends Strike as Justified

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strike on Russia as 'entirely justified,' coming just days after a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack on the Ukrainian capital left at least 24 people dead. 'Our responses to Russia's prolongation of the war and its attacks on our cities and communities are entirely justified. This time, Ukrainian long-range sanctions reached the Moscow region, and we are clearly telling the Russians: their state must end its war,' he said.

Massive Ukrainian Drone Offensive

Russian authorities reported that nearly 600 Ukrainian drones targeted the country overnight, leaving four people dead. Russia's defence ministry stated that air defence systems destroyed 556 drones overnight, with another 30 intercepted after daybreak, marking one of the largest Ukrainian drone offensives of the war. The interceptions occurred across 14 Russian regions, as well as over Crimea, which was annexed by Russia from Ukraine, and the Black and Azov seas.
