Foreign Affairs Expert Robinder Sachdev stated on Saturday that India's official diplomatic stance regarding the killing of three Indian seafarers is the strongest possible, describing the incident as a war crime.
Strongest Diplomatic Stance
In a conversation with ANI, Sachdev acknowledged that while India's official stance is robust, it does not diminish the severity of the crime. He emphasized that civilians are being killed randomly, indicating that American forces operate with disregard for civilian life, as seen in other regions like the Caribbean.
Legal Action and Compensation
Sachdev suggested that beyond government action, families of the victims should file a legal case in New York to claim compensation from the US government. He noted that parliamentarians could also raise their voices for compensation, which could impact the legal system over time.
US President's Response
Sachdev remarked that US President Donald Trump appears uninformed or evasive on the issue. He pointed out that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) has admitted to firing the missiles that killed the seafarers, marking the first civilian casualties among several ships disabled in the region.
Iran's Role
While thanking the Iranian embassy for confirming US involvement, Sachdev asserted that India independently knows the facts. He noted Iran's increasingly aggressive stance, shifting goalposts from uranium enrichment to the Strait of Hormuz and Lebanon.
Pakistan's Peace Deal Claim
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed that a peace deal between the US and Iran is imminent, with finalization expected within 24 hours, followed by technical-level talks. He expressed gratitude to both nations for their commitment to negotiations.
