Israel Accuses Iran as Ballistic Missile Lands in Beirut Amid Escalating Tensions
Israel: Iranian Missile Falls in Beirut, IDF Orders Evacuations

Israel Claims Iranian Ballistic Missile Strikes Beirut, Orders Evacuations in Southern Suburbs

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday that a ballistic missile launched by the Iranian regime has fallen in Beirut, Lebanon. This incident occurred following multiple missile launches directed toward Israel, escalating regional tensions significantly.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the IDF accused the Iranian regime of disregarding civilian safety in its efforts to target Israel. The post read, "A ballistic missile fired by the Iranian Regime fell in Beirut following multiple launches directed toward Israel. Once again, the Iranian regime shows it doesn't care who gets hurt in its efforts to target Israel."

Israeli Military Orders Evacuations and Conducts Strikes

In response to the escalating situation, the Israeli military has ordered the evacuation of residents from seven neighborhoods in the southern suburbs of Beirut. IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee stated that the military will continue to attack Hezbollah infrastructure throughout various parts of these southern suburbs, as reported by Al Jazeera.

Lebanon's state-run National News Agency provided additional details, reporting that shrapnel from an interception by a foreign naval vessel landed over several towns north of Beirut. This event resulted in some light injuries, according to Al Jazeera's coverage.

Targeted Strike on Quds Force Operative

The Israeli military also confirmed that it conducted a strike in the Hazmieh area, located in the Beirut region but outside the southern suburbs. This operation targeted and killed Mohammad Ali Kourani, identified as a Quds Force operative. In a joint statement, the Israeli army and domestic security agency Shin Bet claimed that Kourani was involved in planning attacks under the direction of Iranian-linked groups.

The Quds Force is one of the five branches of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. As of now, there has been no immediate comment from Iranian or Lebanese officials regarding these claims by Israel.

Broader Regional Context and U.S. Involvement

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, U.S. President Donald Trump made remarks at the Swearing-In Ceremony for the Secretary of Homeland Security, asserting that the United States has achieved victory in the conflict. He stated, "We're in negotiations right now. I can tell you, they'd like to make a deal and who wouldn't if you were there? Look, their navy's gone, their air force is gone, their communications are gone. Pretty much everything they have is gone."

This statement adds another layer to the complex geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East, highlighting the ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Iran.

The situation remains fluid, with potential implications for regional stability and international diplomacy. Authorities continue to monitor developments closely as events unfold in Beirut and surrounding areas.
