Bokaro: Security forces remained on high alert along the Jharkhand-Bengal border on Thursday as the first phase of assembly elections in West Bengal took place. Acting on directives from the Election Commission, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha ordered the closure of all inter-state entry points to prevent any unlawful movement that could disrupt the polling process.
Strict Security Measures Implemented
In addition to major roads, jungle routes and footpaths were sealed to block every possible transit channel. Security forces were deployed across sensitive zones, and vehicles were checked at multiple checkpoints, according to sources.
Deputy Commissioner's Statement
The DC said, “Strict enforcement was in place, but genuine voters and essential movements did not face any problems. Our priority was to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling in Bengal. At the same time, we facilitated smooth movement for people traveling to Bengal to vote.”
