FARIDABAD: Police on Monday stated that a search operation is currently underway after a man reportedly jumped into the Agra Canal near Deeg Fatehpur Billoch village along with his two sons. The incident occurred on Sunday night and came to light when police discovered a motorcycle parked on the canal ridge.
Soon after receiving the information, police and fire brigade teams arrived at the location and commenced search operations, officials said. Police sources indicated that the man had been facing ongoing marital disputes and was under mental stress, although the family has not provided further details.
A senior police officer said they received a call from the control room around 11 pm on Sunday reporting that a man had jumped into the canal with his two children. “After this, they reached the spot and informed the SDRF and fire brigade,” he added. “The man's bike was found parked on a bridge over the Agra Canal. The man is said to be a resident of Asavati village in Palwal. The bike also bears a Palwal registration number. Search is going on, and we are investigating,” he said.
This case comes shortly after another incident in the same canal, where a dental surgeon allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the Sector 17 bridge in Faridabad on Saturday. His body was recovered on Sunday after a 20-hour search operation. Police had said he took the extreme step following an argument with his wife.
