Tensions have escalated in Manipur after the bodies of six Naga civilians, allegedly abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, were recovered following an extensive search operation. According to Manipur Police, nearly 450 personnel from the state police, CRPF, and Assam Rifles, assisted by forensic teams and sniffer dogs, participated in the search operation that led to the recovery of the bodies. The victims are believed to be among those taken hostage last month amid ongoing ethnic tensions in the state.
Reactions and Demands
The United Naga Council has condemned the killings and announced a 24-hour shutdown, while demanding action against those responsible and a review of the Suspension of Operations agreement with Kuki militant groups.
