Punjab Police Arrests Three Gangsters at Indo-Bhutan Border

The Punjab Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three individuals linked to a foreign-based fugitive gangster, Happy Jatt, from the Indo-Bhutan border in West Bengal as they attempted to flee to Bhutan. The arrests were part of a joint operation named 'Operation Nest Wrecker,' conducted by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab, and the Overseas Fugitive Tracking and Extradition Cell, Punjab.

Details of the Arrest

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed that the arrested accused have been identified as Jatin Singh, Sajandeep Singh, and Mehakdeep Singh. According to the DGP, preliminary investigations revealed that the accused acted on the directions of their foreign-based handler, Happy Jatt, and executed planned killings on his orders.

The Incident

The arrests stem from a shooting incident that occurred on April 27 at around 9 pm in Bhoma village, Batala. Four unidentified assailants on two motorcycles opened fire on three persons, resulting in the death of two individuals and injuring a third. The victims succumbed to bullet injuries at the scene.

Investigation and Evidence

ADGP Promod Ban of the AGTF stated that following the incident, police teams from AGTF, Batala police, intelligence, and technical units jointly carried out an investigation. They analyzed extensive CCTV footage from multiple locations to track down the suspects. A case has been registered under Sections 103 and 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Ghuman in Batala.

The successful operation highlights the coordinated efforts of Punjab Police in cracking down on gangster networks and preventing further violence. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and apprehend any remaining associates.
