In a significant escalation of rhetoric, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a stark warning to Ukraine on Saturday, stating that if Kyiv refuses to pursue peace, Moscow will accomplish all objectives of its special military operation through force. This declaration came following his visit to a command post of the Russian armed forces and mere hours before a critical meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and former US President Donald Trump in Florida, as reported by the Russian state news agency TASS.
Putin's Visit and Military Assessment
During his visit to the military command post, President Putin was briefed by Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov and commanders of various battle groups. He received updates on the ongoing military situation, including the reported capture of the towns of Gulyaipole in the Zaporozhye region and Dimitrov in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). Putin asserted that Russian forces are advancing along the entire frontline, making gains in the Donbass and Zaporozhye areas.
The Russian leader also confirmed that work on establishing a buffer zone along the Russia-Ukraine border is progressing. Both Putin and General Gerasimov suggested that Ukraine's current leadership appears to be in "no hurry" to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict that has now lasted for over four years.

He emphasized that any major decisions concerning these critical issues must involve the direct will of the Ukrainian people, potentially through a national referendum or specific legislative changes.
