A devastating fire erupted at a chemical ink factory in Rewari, Haryana, leaving six workers injured and one person missing, prompting an extensive overnight search and rescue mission. The blaze began around noon on Tuesday at the GLS Company plant located in the Bawal industrial township, releasing thick toxic smoke that spread across the area. Firefighters struggled for nearly 24 hours to bring the flames under control due to the presence of highly flammable chemical stockpiles on the premises.
Emergency Response and Rescue Operations
Superintendent of Police Hemendra Kumar Meena confirmed that emergency teams successfully rescued six workers, who were immediately rushed to a hospital with severe burns. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is continuing to scour the debris in search of a factory worker who remains unaccounted for, as relatives have been unable to locate him. Local authorities and police have cordoned off Sector 5 of the township to facilitate and monitor the ongoing search, rescue, and relief efforts.
Investigation and Safety Concerns
Meena stated, "Once the situation stabilises, there will be an impartial investigation into possible negligence on part of the company management." This industrial disaster has renewed scrutiny over safety compliance and regulatory oversight within Haryana's rapidly expanding chemical manufacturing zones. Emergency personnel remain stationed at the perimeter to prevent any residual chemical flare-ups and ensure the safety of the surrounding area.
