Two helicopters collided over Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning and crashed in the city's western zone, killing all six people aboard, firefighters said. Rio de Janeiro's Military Fire Department reported that one of the helicopters crashed onto a car dealership where several electric vehicles were parked, igniting a fire that was extinguished. Officials announced an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Police stated that American singer and comedian Oliver Tree was on the passenger list handed to aviation authorities, but the bodies of those killed have not yet been identified.

Three Killed, 29 Injured as Truck Rams into Bus in Madhya Pradesh

An out-of-control truck rammed into a car, struck a bus, and crashed into a bridge in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday, leaving three bus passengers dead and 29 injured, police said. The accident occurred near the Industrial Area bridge under Kuthla police station limits. The bus, carrying around 35 passengers, was traveling from Katni to Vijayraghavgarh, while the truck came from the opposite direction, Superintendent of Police Abhinav Vishwakarma told PTI. Preliminary investigation suggests the truck driver lost control due to brake failure. The collision caused the bus to overturn, trapping several passengers. A crane was used to lift the bus and rescue passengers in an operation lasting over 35 minutes. Locals joined police and administrative officials in rescue efforts. The deceased were identified as Kishan Kol (30), Neelam Prajapati, and Raju Choudhary. A girl with serious injuries was shifted to the government medical college in Jabalpur, while others are being treated in the district hospital. The truck driver was also injured.

Two Drown in River in Odisha's Jharsuguda

Two persons, including a minor, drowned while bathing in the Ib River in Odisha's Jharsuguda district on Sunday afternoon, police said. The deceased were identified as Pankaj Kumar Sahu (20) and Girija Shankar Sahu (16). The incident occurred around 3 pm at a ghat in Jharsuguda Sadar police station area. Locals retrieved the bodies and took them to Jharsuguda Main Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Police registered a case of unnatural death and further investigation is underway.

Eight Killed as Pick-up Vehicle Falls into Well in Maharashtra

Eight people, including four women and four children, were killed and seven others injured on Sunday when a pick-up vehicle carrying them plunged into a roadside well in Malshiras tehsil in Solapur district, police said. Fifteen people, mostly relatives and neighbors from Pandharpur, were returning from Mhaswad after visiting a temple when the incident occurred near Tandulwadi village. Superintendent of Police Atul Kulkarni said the vehicle suddenly veered off around 5 pm, entered a farm, and fell into a well, likely due to loss of control. The vehicle is being pulled out, and the injured were rushed to the hospital. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief and announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased. He described the accident as extremely unfortunate and tragic, offering heartfelt condolences. Seven people were rescued and are undergoing treatment.

US Centcom Says US Navy Helped Rescue 14 Indian Mariners in North Arabian Sea

A US Navy search and rescue helicopter on Sunday assisted in rescuing 14 Indian mariners in the Northern Arabian Sea, the US Central Command said. Upon receiving a distress call at approximately 2 a.m. EST (11:30 am IST), a US Navy P-8 aircraft responded by dropping a search and rescue kit including a life raft, which the 14 mariners boarded. Motor Vessel Jabal Ali 9 arrived on scene and successfully recovered 11 crew members from the raft. An MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter from the USS Abraham Lincoln rescued three additional mariners after their life raft capsized in rough seas. The three were transported to M/V Jabal Ali 9 in good health and spirits. The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy also responded. The US 5th Fleet area of operations covers approximately 2.5 million square miles, including the Arabian Gulf, Gulf of Oman, Red Sea, parts of the Indian Ocean, and critical choke points at the Strait of Hormuz, Suez Canal, and Bab al-Mandeb.
