Russia Claims Repelling Major Militant Offensive in Mali

Russia's Africa Corps has claimed that they have repelled one of the largest militant offensives in Mali, which they allege was backed by Western and Ukrainian mercenaries. The operation may have also stopped a coup attempt in its tracks, according to the Russia-linked forces.

Coordinated Attacks Across Key Cities

Militants reportedly linked to the Al-Qaeda affiliate JNIM, along with the Tuareg-led Azawad Liberation Front, launched near-simultaneous attacks across key cities in Mali. Targets included the capital Bamako, as well as Kati, Gao, Kidal, and Sevare. This marked one of the most widespread offensives in the country in recent years.

Intense Combat Footage

Videos released from both sides purportedly show intense combat scenes, with Russia's Africa Corps claiming to have hunted down over 1,000 West-backed fighters armed with Stinger missiles. The claims have not been independently verified.
