At least seven people were killed in lightning strikes across Bihar on Friday, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary confirmed. The deceased included three from Gaya Ji district, two from Aurangabad, and one each from Saran and Khagaria.

Choudhary directed the Disaster Management Department to provide an ex gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased. In a post on X, he expressed condolences and urged people to remain cautious during inclement weather.

Several districts in Bihar experienced heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms. The chief minister advised following safety guidelines issued by the department to protect against lightning strikes. Earlier, he also ordered a survey to assess crop damage caused by heavy rain and hailstorms in multiple districts.
