The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly reacted to an unsuccessful sacrilege attempt at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Gurbaksh Singh Ji, located inside the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. The incident occurred a day ago, and police have taken the accused into custody for investigation.
Dhami Raises Concerns Over Conspiracy
Harjinder Singh Dhami, who is leading an SGPC delegation in the USA, stated that the accused is in police custody. He warned that if the conspirators behind the incident are not identified, it would indicate that the government is not serious about matters related to Sikh sentiments. Dhami appealed to gurdwara administrators and devotees to remain vigilant and offer sewa to prevent such individuals from succeeding in their plans.
Past Incidents Recalled
Dhami noted that this abortive sacrilege attempt reminds of similar incidents in the past. He criticized the failure of governments to punish culprits, which he believes has led to repeated sacrilege attempts. He demanded a thorough probe to expose those behind the conspiracy.
He commended the prompt action of sewadars present at the spot, which prevented the sacrilege. Dhami described the incident as very serious and indicative of a larger conspiracy. He pointed out that despite previous incidents, no culprit has been punished due to governmental incompetence.
Call for Justice
Dhami recalled that a few years ago, a person attempted to desecrate the sanctum sanctorum of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib by breaching security, but the governments have failed to uncover that conspiracy. He asserted that the latest incident is a conspiracy to defame the SGPC administration and provoke religious sentiments of devotees. He urged that the forces behind it must be brought to light.
