Three dead in auto-truck collision in Jaunpur

Varanasi: At least three persons were killed and three others injured after an auto-rickshaw collided with a speeding truck in the Mungrabaadshahpur police station area of Jaunpur early Monday.

According to reports, an auto-rickshaw packed with passengers was hit by a speeding truck at around 6 am near a culvert on the Jaunpur-Rae Bareli Highway. The collision was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was torn apart and fell into a roadside ditch. Three auto occupants were killed in the accident, while three others were injured. After the accident, the truck driver fled the scene.

SHO Ashwani Kumar Dubey and Sathariya outpost in-charge Dhananjay Rai arrived at the scene and launched relief operations along with other police personnel. The injured were rushed to the Community Health Centre in Sathariya, where three of them were pronounced dead.

The deceased were identified as Pramod Kumar Mishra (53), Shiv Shankar Sharma (53) and Barsati (42). The seriously injured include Rakesh Bind (32), Pranav Pandey (19) and Ajit Yadav (36).
