Three Fires in Nagpur Cause Over 1 Crore Loss, No Injuries

Nagpur witnessed three separate fire incidents on Thursday, collectively causing estimated losses exceeding Rs 1 crore. Timely intervention by fire brigade teams prevented the flames from spreading further. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Fire at Agarbatti Manufacturing Unit

The first major fire broke out at an agarbatti (incense sticks) manufacturing unit near Umiya Cold Storage in Kapsi industrial area under Pardi police station limits around 5:23 am. According to the Kalamna fire station report, the blaze erupted at plot No. 227 owned by Giridhar Bhojwani and tenanted by Rajesh Mohta. Fire officials suspect a short circuit triggered the blaze.

The fire damaged incense stick powder, mixers, dryers, wiring, and other materials stored inside the unit. Officials estimated the loss at around Rs 50 lakh, while property worth nearly Rs 3 crore was saved due to prompt firefighting efforts. Teams from Kalamna and Lakadganj fire stations battled the flames for several hours before completely extinguishing the fire.

Fire at Plastic Scrap Godown

In another incident, a fire broke out at a plastic scrap godown near Fetri on Katol Road around 1:15 am. The Trimurti Nagar fire station team rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. Wood, plastic, cardboard, and other scrap materials were gutted, causing losses of around Rs 6 lakh. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Fire at Four-Wheeler Scrap Godown

A third major blaze was reported at a four-wheeler scrap godown in Khairi village of Kamptee taluka, where a suspected short circuit triggered a massive fire. Around 30 scrapped four-wheelers were engulfed in flames. Officials said office equipment, 30 cars, tyres, and vehicle parts were destroyed in the fire. The estimated loss was pegged at around Rs 50 lakh as of 11:28 am. A fire tender from Sugat Nagar fire station was rushed to assist Kamptee Municipal Council fire brigade personnel in dousing the flames. The exact cause of the incident is yet to be confirmed.
