Trump Says He Must Choose Between Iran Deal or 'Other Way'
Trump: Iran Deal or 'Other Way'?

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday stated that he faces a decision between reaching a deal with Iran or pursuing an alternative approach, which he described as being far from pleasant. Expressing a preference for diplomacy, Trump remarked, "Now I have to make a determination: Do we sign a deal, or do we do it the... the other way? And the other way is not nice."

Speaking to the New York Post, the US leader was asked what the alternative approach would achieve. He responded, "Certainty... It would be over. There wouldn't be any b******t. There wouldn't be any talking. There wouldn't be any delays. But I'd rather do it the nice way... from a humanitarian standpoint."

When a reporter inquired whether this could be accomplished solely through bombing, Trump replied, "Yeah, you don't have to. We don't need boots on the ground. We wiped out much of their military with just bombing. We didn't put anybody on the ground. You don't want to do that if you can avoid it. You are so far away."

These comments came on a day when Iran struck Kuwait's main international airport, targeting a key US ally, amid a ceasefire that is already under strain. In retaliation for US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February that triggered the Middle East conflict, the Islamic Republic has repeatedly targeted Washington's allies across the region. The ceasefire has been in place since April 8, announced a day after Trump wrote in a Truth Social post that a "whole civilisation will die tonight," sparking controversy.
