In a tragic incident on Wednesday morning, two friends lost their lives when a speeding pickup van collided with their motorcycle on the Ara–Patna four-lane road at Koilwar in Bhojpur district. The victims were returning from a marriage function.

Victims Identified

According to police, the deceased were identified as Sujit Kumar, 30, son of Brijnandan Singh, a resident of Katesar village under Bihta police station, and his friend Amit Kumar, 35, son of Nanda Mahto, from the same village. Both were critically injured in the accident and were rushed to the Koilwar Primary Health Centre, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Karan Kumar, a friend of Sujit Kumar, confirmed the details. Sujit Kumar's wife, Saraswati Kumari, recounted the incident to mediapersons: 'We were returning home to Katesar on Wednesday morning after attending the marriage function of my husband's niece, which was held at Mahuli village under Ara Mufassil police station on Tuesday. While I was travelling in an auto-rickshaw with other family members, Sujit and his friend were on their bike. A speeding pickup van hit their bike near the Koilwar underpass, killing both of them on the spot.'

Police Investigation Underway

Koilwar Station House Officer (SHO) Narottam Chandra, who rushed to the spot along with other police personnel, stated, 'The investigation is underway to identify the pickup van driver. CCTV footage is being examined to trace and nab him.'

The incident has left the families devastated, highlighting the dangers of speeding vehicles on the busy four-lane road. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
