Two Killed in Head-On Collision on NH-56 in Pratapgarh

Udaipur: Two persons were killed and one seriously injured after a truck collided head-on with a car early Monday morning in the Suhagpura area of Pratapgarh on the Chittorgarh-Banswara National Highway (NH-56), police said.

Victims Identified

Police identified the deceased as Bhavesh, 35, driver of the car, and Ghanshyam Modia, 50, passenger of the car. Rajkumar Moonat, 42, the second passenger in the car and a resident of Mumbai, sustained critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Details of the Accident

Suhagpura SHO Manish Kumar Vaishnav stated that it was a head-on collision between the truck and the car. According to the police, the truck was heading towards Banswara, while the car coming from Mumbai was also proceeding towards Banswara. The car was completely damaged due to the impact, and both vehicles fell into a 150-foot-deep roadside gorge. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, an officer said.

The officer said the car occupants were trapped inside the vehicle due to the impact. Ghanshyam died on the spot. Seriously injured Bhavesh and Rajkumar were taken to the district hospital, where Bhavesh died during treatment. A search is underway for the truck driver.
