Two PLFI Extremists Arrested in Ranchi Extortion Case

Ranchi: Two members of the banned extremist organisation People Liberation Front of India (PLFI) were arrested from the Tupudana area of the city on Thursday, police said.

Arrest and Recovery

The accused were identified as Arun Lohra and Suraj Lohra. Officials said the duo arrived at Barahmile chowk on a bike to collect Rs 50 lakh as extortion money when the police apprehended them. During the arrest, police recovered PLFI pamphlets from their possession.

Complaint and Investigation

Police said the case began after Bajrang Mahto, a resident of the Nagri police station area, lodged a complaint stating that PLFI demanded Rs 50 lakh from him. A team was formed to investigate, and technical inputs indicated the extremists would come to Barahmile to collect the levy.
