Two Students Drown in Damodar River in Bokaro

Bokaro: Two students drowned in the Damodar river at Barwaghat under Harla police station area in Bokaro on Tuesday. Officer in-charge of Harla police station, Khurshid Alam, said that while three students had gone to bathe in the river together, two of them drowned. The body of one minor has been recovered, while local divers are searching for the second boy.

Incident Details

The three students from LH Colony and Azad Nagar had reached Barwaghat on a scooty to have fun. The deceased student has been identified as Vishnukant, while the one who is missing is Saurya Kumar alias Shani. The students were studying in Class 9 at a private school and had left home saying they were going for tuition.

Survivor's Account

Ravi Kumar, the boy who survived, said the trio had entered the river and applied shampoo while bathing when they accidentally slipped into deep water. “We shouted for help. One person came running and pulled me out by holding my hand, but he could not save my two friends and they drowned,” Ravi said.
