Rohtak Film 'Jogai Parivar' to Screen at Russia Festival

Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts in Rohtak has achieved international recognition as its short film 'Jogai Parivar' has been selected for screening at the 21st 'Within the Family International Festival of Family and Children's Film' in Russia. The festival is scheduled to commence on July 3 in Yaroslavl, where a global audience of jury members, film enthusiasts, and art lovers will view the selected films.

Student-Produced Film Gains Global Spotlight

Registrar Gunjan Malik Manocha confirmed that 'Jogai Parivar' was produced by students of the Film and Television Faculty at the university. The film was directed by Arpit Anand Singh, a student from the 2023 batch of the direction program. Singh originally hails from the Gagha area of Gorakhpur and is currently pursuing film direction studies at the university.

Manocha elaborated on the film's selection: 'Jogai Parivar has been chosen in the Short Film category. Our students, including Jitendra, Shivam, Mitali, Arun, and Mankhush, have portrayed various characters in the film. The mentor for the project is Deepti Khurana, while Rajat Songra served as associate director. Assistant directors Keshav Biyani, Gaurav Budhwar, Krishang Saini, and Sanya are all students of the Film and Television Faculty.'

Technical Crew and Production Details

The registrar further detailed the technical team: 'The cinematographer is Ajay Nehra, the editor is Gaurav Budhwar, and the location sound recordist is Gaurav Gautam. Sound design was handled by Anshul Rohilla, art direction by Sheetal Kumari, and set design by Ramakant Mahajan. Surendra served as production head, Neha managed makeup, and Preeti Sharma designed costumes.'

Vice-Chancellor Amit Arya expressed pride in the achievement, noting that the Yaroslavl film festival is the world's largest festival dedicated to family and children's films. 'It is a matter of pride for everyone that a short film by SUPVA and its students has been selected for such an international film festival,' he said. 'The short film Jogai Parivar portrays the truth of society and family in a simple manner. The film's actors and the rest of the crew worked hard for it. Some student actors learned the Bhojpuri language in a very short time so that they could immerse themselves in their roles.'

Arya expressed hope that the short film would attract the attention of the jury members and win an award at the festival.
