Dubai Crown Prince Directs Early Salary Payment Ahead of Eid Al-Fitr

In a significant move to support employees during the festive season, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, has issued a directive for the early disbursement of March salaries for all Dubai government employees. The salaries are scheduled to be paid on March 17, well ahead of the Eid Al-Fitr celebrations, enabling workers to better prepare for the holiday and provide for their families.

UAE Announces Official Holiday Arrangements

This directive aligns with the broader holiday arrangements announced by the United Arab Emirates for both public and private sector employees. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has confirmed that federal ministries, institutions, and public sector entities will observe a holiday from March 19 to March 22, with official working hours resuming on March 23. For private sector employees, the holiday period is set from March 19 to March 21. However, if Ramadan extends to 30 days, the private sector holiday will be extended to include March 22 as well.

Eid Al-Fitr Dates and Moon Sighting

Eid Al-Fitr, a non-transferrable public holiday in the UAE, is observed from Shawwal 1 to 3. According to the Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD), Eid Al-Fitr is expected to fall on March 20, 2026, and continue until March 22. The exact dates will be determined by moon sighting committees convening on the 29th day of Ramadan. If the crescent moon is sighted on March 18, Eid could begin on March 19, potentially resulting in a four-day break from March 19 to 22, with Sunday aligning with the usual weekend.
