Himachal Pradesh Residents Reported Safe in Middle East Amid Ongoing Conflict

Parliamentary affairs minister Harshwardhan Chauhan stated on Tuesday that there are currently no reports of any resident from Himachal Pradesh facing harm due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East involving the United States, Iran, and Israel. This announcement comes amidst heightened tensions following recent military actions, including Iran's missile strikes and Israel's bombings.

Government Monitoring and Communication Efforts

Chauhan emphasized that many Himachal Pradesh residents living in countries such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia are actively in touch with their families, and no incidents of harm have been reported so far. The exact number of people from the hill state in the Middle East remains uncertain, with media estimates ranging between 40,000 and 45,000, though the government lacks precise data.

The state government is closely coordinating with the Union ministry of home affairs and the ministry of external affairs to monitor the situation. Chauhan noted that the airspace over the Middle East region is currently closed, with no commercial flights operating, which complicates travel arrangements.

Support Measures and Future Plans

To assist residents, the state's home department has deployed officers to oversee the matter, and a dedicated helpline will soon be established. "If anyone encounters issues, they can contact us, and we will take all necessary steps," Chauhan said, reassuring that no major problems have been reported thus far.

Once air travel resumes, residents wishing to return to India will be able to do so. The minister also highlighted that the central government is maintaining communication with home secretaries across states to ensure a coordinated response. This proactive approach aims to provide support and ensure the safety of Indian nationals abroad during this volatile period.
