IDF Eliminates Armed Terrorist in Security Zone Over Ceasefire Breach

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that they eliminated an armed terrorist operating inside the Security Zone in southern Lebanon, accusing Lebanon of a blatant ceasefire violation. The incident took place in the Majdal Zoun area, where IDF soldiers opened fire on the militant after identifying him as a threat.

IDF Statement on Ceasefire Breach

In a post on X, the IDF stated: "A blatant violation of the agreement: An armed terrorist was identified operating inside the Security Zone, in the Majdal Zoun area in southern Lebanon. In response, IDF soldiers opened fire at the terrorist and eliminated him." The post was accompanied by a video and image of the operation.

This marks the second such incident in recent days. On Wednesday, the IDF eliminated a Hezbollah terrorist within the Security Zone, claiming the individual posed an immediate threat to soldiers. The IDF reported that the terrorist exited an access shaft of underground terror infrastructure at the Ali al-Taher Ridge.

On the same day, the IDF located an underground shaft and a weapons storage facility in southern Lebanon, containing rockets and mortars in the At-Tiri area. Additionally, in the Maroun al-Ras area, soldiers discovered explosive devices, weapons, and other military equipment. The IDF shared these findings on X, emphasizing the ongoing threat from Hezbollah.

Israeli Deputy Minister's Remarks

Earlier this week, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel stated that Israel would continue military operations against Hezbollah despite the existing ceasefire framework with Lebanon. In a virtual interview with ANI, Haskel argued that Hezbollah, backed by Iran, continues to pose a direct security threat. "If Hezbollah continues to attack Israel, we will continue to defend our people, our communities, and our forces," she said. Haskel described Hezbollah's presence as "an Iranian occupation of Lebanon" and called for the disarmament of the group to achieve lasting stability.
