Constructive Talks on Iran-US MoU and Strait of Hormuz

Oman's Foreign Minister Albusaidi, in a separate post on X, wrote: "Welcomed Iran's Speaker of Parliament HE Dr. Ghalibaf and FM Dr. Araghchi in Muscat this evening. Constructive discussions on the recent Iran-US MOU, especially the Strait of Hormuz paragraph. We affirmed commitment to international law and toll-free safe passage."

The meeting was also attended by Oman's Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Hinaai, Iran's Ambassador to Oman Musa Farhank, and other officials from both sides.

Direct Communication Line Established Between Iran and US

This visit comes as Iran and the United States established a direct communication line to avoid incidents and miscommunication in the Strait of Hormuz, as announced by mediators Qatar and Pakistan on Monday after the first round of high-level talks under a 14-point MoU. The statement said: "In addition, a communication line between the parties has been formed for the period mentioned in paragraph 5 of the MoU to avoid incidents and miscommunication with the aim of safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz."

The discussions in Oman underscored the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for global oil shipments, and the commitment of both Iran and Oman to uphold international law and ensure safe passage.
