Munich Airport was temporarily shut down on Saturday following a drone sighting reported by a pilot, leading to the suspension of all flights, according to a spokesperson for the Federal Police who spoke to FOCUS online.

Runways Closed for Assessment

Both runways were closed while authorities assessed the situation. The spokesperson confirmed that a pilot had reported suspicious activity in the area.

A passenger told FOCUS online that an announcement was made shortly before takeoff, stating the airport would remain closed until at least 10 am local time.

Search Operation and Reopening

Helicopters were deployed to search for the drone. However, after an extensive search yielded no findings, the closure was lifted and air traffic resumed normal operations.
