Born on December 31, 1963, in the Bendore–Kadri area of Mangaluru, Fr Melwin's journey began with his education at St Aloysius, Mangaluru. He joined the Society of Jesus in June 1981, demonstrating an early commitment to spiritual and academic pursuits. His ordination as a Jesuit priest took place on April 14, 1997, after which he embarked on a multifaceted career that spanned various roles in education and communication.
Fr Melwin's academic credentials were impressive, including:
- An MA in English
- A Master of Education (MEd)
- Diplomas in psychology and counselling
- A diploma in school administration
Extensive Career in Education and Beyond
His professional path was marked by significant contributions to numerous institutions. He served as:
- Headmaster of St Joseph's Primary and High Schools in Hassan
- Founder-principal of St Joseph's Indian Composite PU College in Bengaluru
- Headmaster of St Aloysius High School in Mangaluru
- Principal of St Joseph's PU College in Hassan
Beyond India, Fr Melwin also worked as the section head for the English desk at Vatican Communications and Radio in Rome, focusing on Asia and Indian languages. This role highlighted his global outreach and commitment to intercultural dialogue.

In his later years, Fr Melwin took on key leadership positions within the Jesuit community. He served as:
- Superior and director of Fatima Retreat House in Valencia, Mangaluru

Funeral Arrangements Announced

- St Aloysius College Chapel from 10 AM to 2 PM on April 13
- Divine Mercy Church, Fatima Retreat House, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM on the same day
The funeral Mass is scheduled for 3:30 PM, followed by burial at the Jesuit Cemetery in Mangaluru. These arrangements provide an opportunity for friends, colleagues, and well-wishers to honor his memory and celebrate his impactful life.
