India Extends Quake Relief to Venezuela Under Op Amistad

India's Ongoing Relief Efforts in Venezuela

India continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes on June 24, under the banner of Operation Amistad. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that the Indian Army Field Hospital is actively engaged in relief operations in the affected region.

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated on X, "Operation Amistad: Extending a helping hand. Making a difference. The Army Field Hospital's relief efforts in Venezuela." The Indian Embassy in Venezuela also reported that India has donated two BHISHM (Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita and Maitri) cubes to Venezuela as part of this operation. These portable modular hospitals are designed for rapid deployment in disaster zones.

Live Demonstration and Medical Support

Indian Army doctors conducted a live demonstration for Venezuelan medical officers on the uses and deployment of the BHISHM cube. The Indian Embassy shared on X, "Indian Army doctors gave a live demo to Venezuelan medical officers about the uses and deployment of BHISHM cube. India has donated 2 BHISHM cubes to Venezuela as part of Operation Amistad." This initiative underscores India's commitment to providing practical medical support in the aftermath of the disaster.

Venezuela's Gratitude and International Solidarity

Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodriguez expressed heartfelt thanks to India and other nations for their assistance. In a post on X, she said, "We honor the rescuers from the United Kingdom, Qatar, France, India, Barbados, Brazil, and Argentina in recognition of their invaluable work and the solidarity they have shown with Venezuela during these days of sorrow. We will never forget their dedication, courage, and commitment! Carry with you our gratitude and a piece of Venezuela in your hearts. Earthquake Toll and Ongoing Crisis

According to Al Jazeera, Venezuela marked its 215th Independence Day on July 5 amid grief from the earthquakes. The Ministry of Communication and Information reported 3,342 deaths, with the number expected to rise. Thousands remain missing, while 16,470 people are injured and 17,345 have lost their homes. The international community continues to rally support for the affected population.
