Megyn Kelly Demands US Withdrawal from Iran Amid Trump's Plummeting Approval

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly, a vocal critic of President Donald Trump's military involvement in Iran, has intensified her calls for the United States to exit the conflict. She argues that Trump's historically low approval ratings serve as a clear mandate to refocus efforts on domestic economic issues affecting Americans.

Poll Reveals "Brutal" Numbers for Trump

In a recent post, Kelly reacted sharply to a poll by the University of Massachusetts Amherst, stating, "Five alarm fire - for the love of all that is holy we need to get out of Iran and work full time on ppl’s $$ worries." The survey, conducted from March 20-25 with 1,000 respondents and a margin of error of ±3.5 percentage points, found Trump's overall approval rating at just 33%, marking an all-time low.

The poll highlights a dramatic decline in Trump's net approval on key campaign issues: -25 on immigration, -31 on jobs, -36 on tariffs, and -47 on inflation. This represents a significant drop from previous ratings of 38% in July 2025 and 44% in April 2025.

Economic Concerns Drive Disapproval

Jesse Rhodes, a political science professor at UMass Amherst and co-director of the poll, described the findings as "brutal" for Trump. In the polling release, he warned that Trump's approval on the economy is "a major cause of his declining poll numbers." Rhodes noted that 62% of Americans somewhat or strongly disapprove of Trump's job performance, with harsh grades on economic issues:

  • 71% say Trump is not handling inflation well.
  • 61% say he’s not handling the issue of jobs well.
  • 64% give him a negative grade on tariffs, a signature issue that has become a public relations disaster.

Rhodes emphasized, "Americans grade Trump harshly on the most prominent issues facing the country, especially on bread-and-butter economic issues."

White House Defends Trump's Record

In response to the poll, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle dismissed the significance of the approval ratings, pointing to the 2024 election results. In a statement to Newsweek, Ingle said, "the ultimate poll was November 5th 2024 when nearly 80 million Americans overwhelmingly elected President Trump to deliver on his popular and commonsense agenda."

Ingle defended Trump's accomplishments, stating, "No other President in history has accomplished more for the American people than President Trump, who is working tirelessly to create jobs, cool inflation, increase housing affordability, and more. The President has already made historic progress not only in America but around the world, and this is just the beginning as his agenda continues taking effect."

This clash between Kelly's urgent call for disengagement in Iran and the White House's steadfast defense underscores the deepening political divide as Trump faces mounting public scrutiny over his handling of both foreign policy and domestic economic challenges.
