MCA Student Found Dead in Noida Hostel Room
A tragic incident unfolded at a private engineering institute in Gautam Buddha Nagar, where a third-year student was discovered dead in his hostel room. The police confirmed that the student, identified as Krishnakant (25), was found hanging. He was a resident of Jharkhand and pursuing a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) degree at the Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET).
Alarming Phone Call and Discovery
According to the investigation, the sequence of events leading to the discovery began with a concerning phone conversation. Krishnakant had spoken to his father earlier in the day, and the nature of the talk raised serious alarms. The worried father immediately contacted his son's roommate, Hrithik, and urged him to check on Krishnakant, fearing he might cause harm to himself.
Acting on the request, Hrithik asked a friend to go to their room in the Crown Hostel. Upon reaching, the friend found the door locked from the inside. Despite repeated knocking, there was no response. With no other option, the door latch was broken open, where they found Krishnakant hanging inside the room.
Suicide Note and Health Struggles
The police reported that a suicide note was recovered from the room. The brief note stated: “I give up. Give my body and all my belongings to my family.” This poignant message has become a central piece of the investigation.
In his statement to the authorities, roommate Hrithik revealed that Krishnakant had been suffering from a severe and long-standing headache. This detail points to potential underlying health issues that may have contributed to his state of mind. The police are considering all angles as part of their probe.
Post-Mortem and Legal Proceedings
Following the discovery, the local police initiated standard legal procedures. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities have stated that further investigation is ongoing to piece together the full circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
The incident has cast a pall over the NIET campus and student community, raising concerns about student mental health and support systems within educational hostels.
