Trump Slams Lincoln Memorial Pool as 'Biden Filth', Vows Fix with Burgum
Trump calls Lincoln Memorial Pool symbol of 'Biden filth'

Former US President Donald Trump has launched a fresh political attack, this time using one of America's most iconic landmarks as his stage. In a social media post that has sparked widespread discussion, Trump directly targeted the Biden administration by criticising the condition of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Trump's Truth Social Outburst

On Wednesday, November 26, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to share a photograph of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool alongside a strongly worded message. He described the national monument as representing what he called "Biden filth and incompetence" in a clear escalation of his ongoing criticism of the current administration.

In his post, Trump explicitly stated: "This is the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool before Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and I fix it. Study it hard because you won't be seeing this Biden filth and incompetence much longer!" The message not only attacked President Joe Biden but also signaled Trump's intentions should he return to office, naming Doug Burgum as his partner in this proposed effort.

Political Symbolism and Maintenance Reality

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, managed by the National Park Service, has undergone regular maintenance throughout its history. However, Trump's comments represent a significant politicization of the landmark, tying its condition directly to his broader campaign narrative against the Biden administration.

This incident marks the latest in a series of instances where Trump has used social media to highlight what he perceives as failures of the current government. His approach often involves using visual symbols to underscore his political criticism, making complex policy debates more accessible to his supporters through tangible imagery.

Broader Context: The 'Arc de Trump' Proposal

This criticism comes shortly after Trump's October 16 announcement regarding a massive triumphal arch planned for Washington D.C. The proposed structure, already nicknamed "Arc de Trump," is designed to commemorate America's 250th independence anniversary in 2026.

The arch is planned for Memorial Circle, positioned at the entrance to Arlington Memorial Bridge directly across from the Lincoln Memorial. Trump described it as a "gateway to Washington, D.C.," creating a symbolic connection between the new monument and existing historic landmarks. The design draws clear inspiration from Paris's Arc de Triomphe, aiming to create another monumental focal point on the National Mall.

Trump noted that Memorial Circle has remained vacant despite various proposals dating back to the 19th century. The location opposite the Lincoln Memorial places it among the capital's most significant sites, underscoring what Trump frames as a connection between new leadership and America's enduring ideals.

This combination of criticizing existing monuments while proposing new ones forms part of Trump's broader political strategy as he positions himself for potential future political endeavors.
