Two National Guard members, Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe, are fighting for their lives after a devastating shooting incident near the White House on November 26. Father's Heartbreaking Revelation
In an emotional phone conversation with The New York Times, Gary Beckstrom, Sarah's father, delivered the devastating news that his daughter is unlikely to recover from her injuries. "I'm holding her hand right now," Gary shared, adding that "she has a mortal wound, and it's not going to be a recovery."

Critical Condition After Surgery
According to US Attorney Jeanine Pirro, both Sarah Beckstrom and 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe underwent emergency surgery following the shooting and remain in critical condition. Meanwhile, a representative from Andrew Wolfe's family home conveyed that "all they need right now are prayers" as the young soldier continues his fight for survival.
Background of the Fallen Heroes
The West Virginia National Guard released details about both service members. Andrew Wolfe, 24, from Martinsburg, was assigned to the Force Support Squadron, 167th Airlift Wing. He began his service on February 5, 2019, and had been on duty in the district since the mission commenced in August this year.
Sarah Beckstrom, 20, from Webster Springs, served with the 863rd Military Police Company, 111th Engineer Brigade. She entered service more recently on June 26, 2023, and had also been on Task Force orders in the district since August.
Thanksgiving Sacrifice Turns Tragic
US Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed to Fox News the heartbreaking irony of the situation. Sarah had volunteered to work on Thanksgiving so other guardsmen and women could be home with their families. "She volunteered to be there on Thanksgiving — working today — she volunteers, as did many of those guardsmen and women so other people could be home with their families," Bondi stated.
The attorney general expressed outrage at the attack, emphasizing that "if something happens, I will tell you right now… we will do everything in our power to seek the death penalty against that monster who should not have been in our country."
